Student Testimonial Submitted by:
Monica White, Librarian, Long Beach City College
"BC 194, Web Accessibility, is a superb course. It is well organized, and the content is extremely timely, comprehensive, and concise. The course requirements and grading are clearly stated in the syllabus, and the objectives/learning outcomes for each module are articulated at the beginning of every unit.
I particularly liked the use of the detailed rubrics in evaluating the project assignments; they allowed me to assess the attainment of the learning outcomes and know precisely which objectives I met and which ones I fell short on. Instructor Heck provided extensive feedback on each project, and I appreciate the fact that she reviewed the coding in such minute detail and took the time to provide individualized commentary. I learned a great deal from her expert comments, and as a result, I learned solutions to coding problems that had eluded me in the past. Instructor Heck was very positive and encouraging all along the way, and she inspired interest in the course material. The activities were fun to do and contributed to my learning. I found the activities involving the re-encoding of Web pages fraught with errors, and then comparing my code with the suggested solution, particularly useful and informative.
I really cannot think of any way the course could be improved upon. The subject matter is so important that I think this course should be required of all students who plan to create Web pages that will be accessed by the public."
