Imagine a national articulation related to web design (and development) that recognizes teacher preparation, student training, and employer needs all at the same time! Teachers are expected to provide rigor and relevance to the classroom. Students are expected to have necessary skills for today's work force. Employers are expecting hires that will provide growth and advancement.
WOW's Articulation Initiative will address the following issues faced by technical high schools today:
- Assist teachers to prepare students for skills necessary in a high tech global world
- Encourage employers to advocate school-to-work initiatives
- Encourage students to further their education; especially those who thought they would never attend college
- Provide a comprehensive educational environment to assist with the nations Learning Results so as to meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind
Technical Schools, Teachers and Students will benefit by:
- Base knowledge provided by leading web designers/developers in the country
- Transition from high school to post-secondary seamlessly
- Provide a high level skill base in web design and development
- Demonstrate teacher and student knowledge with training certifications and assessments for both
I applaud WOW's endeavor to provide pertinent training, updated technical information, and boundless opportunities to a mobile work force before, during and after training hours. I look forward to working with WOW, local and national technical high schools and employers of all sizes to encourage confidence, independence and curiosity in today's classroom and workforce.
