WOW Announces WebFair98 Chicago at Mecklermedia's Summer Internet World to support Youth
Folsom, CA. June 30th, 1998: The World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) and its US affiliate, The National Association of Webmasters (NAW) announced today announced its plans to hold it's summer series of WebFair98's at Mecklermedia's Summer Internet World '98. Webfair98 Chicago will be held in conjunction with scheduled for July 16th, at Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Center. Both WOW and Mecklermedia support the effort to introduce Web-related opportunities to Chicago youths.
Webfair98-Chicago is our ninth domestic WebFair this year will be greatly enhanced by our partnership with Mecklermedia," said Bill Cullifer, Executive Director of World Organization of Webmasters (WOW; www.world-webmasters.org.). The goal of all WOW's WebFair events is to bring young adults into a hands-on environment where they develop an understanding of what Web professionals do, the opportunities available, training required, the current challenges, and future prospects.
The event is scheduled for two and a half-hours, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m, and Cullifer says it will be "a history, technology, product, people, career, and training-oriented event, as well as lots of fun!" NAW has been training inner-city young adults since the spring of 1997. In August, NAW joined with Boston-based CitySoft, (http://www.citysoft.com) a for-profit Web development firm in its start up phase, to co-sponsor the "Urban Entrepreneur" program, and Cullifer hasn't stopped since. "Webfair98 are just another way for us to keep doing the same thing: connecting young people and technology for the benefit of all concerned."
The purpose of The World Organization of Webmasters and The National Association of Webmasters is to support and enhance the role of individuals and organizations that create, manage or market web sites.
