The World Association of Webmasters and The Silicon Valley College Announces "Webfair98" Northern California for Students
Folsom, Calif. - May 11th, 1998: The World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) and it's California based affiliate The National Association of Webmasters, announced today that its Webfair98 Northern California, for youths between the ages of 14-18 will take place in Fremont, CA. on May 27th, at the Silicon Valley College (SVC), located at 41350 Christy Street, Fremont, CA. Webfair98 will take place Wednesday from the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The goal of WOW's Webfair98 is to bring the worlds young people into a hands-on environment with computers and "mentors". These mentors include technologists, teachers, companies that employ web professionals, and web experts and will help students develop a high-level understanding of a web professional's responsibilities, what opportunities currently exist and what the future holds.
Bill Cullifer, Executive Director of the World Association of Webmasters and Webfair98's progenitor, calls Webfair98 Northern California a "web immersion event." Silicon Valley College (SVC) is a two-year associate-level college dedicated to providing quality, technology-oriented education. The College stays in tune with industry and ensures its programs provide career opportunities in high demand fields and because of it location within the in the heart of Northern California's technology center, SVC is an ideal location for WOW's Webfair98 said Cullifer. "The College is committed to creating Web professionals and this WebFair is an excellent opportunity to introduce more young people to the tremendous potential of the Internet." Said Mark Millen Director of Academic Affairs, of SVC.
The half-day event will open with a keynote address, by John C. Flanders, CEO and President of CyberJunction.com, a San Francisco based Web Developer Network that assist companies in planning, implementing and measuring the success of their Internet initiatives. "Assisting clients with their Internet projects and assisting aspiring Webmasters takes good planning. We're here to help them plan for the future," commented Flanders. The keynote will be followed by organized visits with mentors and representatives of companies that employ web professionals.
